Lauwersmeer - Landscape Photography - Bas Meelker - Wildlife Photography

As a professional landscape and wildlife photographer using gear that can cope with harsh situations and at the same time deliver the best results is important. Having the right gear for the right situation means Bas is able to deliver a constant supply of high quality and stunning photo's. Unfortunately this also means travelling with several camera bags full of Camera's, lenses, tripod's and all that comes with it. That's part of the game.

A Swedish wildlife photographer once put it this way:

"In nature photography travelling light is a joke. What you bring dictates what you get. So bring it all!"

But the best gear in the world won't make you a good photographer. Camera's and lenses are nothing more than tools in the hands of a skilled photographer. They are the means by which the photographer can express himself. Ultimately it's the photographer who makes the difference. Would you like to learn more about using your gear the best way in order to produce stunning photo's? Take a look at one of Bas Meelker's workshops.

Bas uses the Canon Digital System for his photography. His standard camera is the Canon EOS 1D Mark III. Lenses vary from 17mm wide angle for landscape photography to 500mm supertele for shooting wildlife. For close-up photography Bas uses specialized macro equipment like macro lenses, ring-flashes and extension tubes. And offcourse there are all the usual add-ons like tripods, image tanks, flash extenders and so on....
